Today was the last day for me to put the finishing touches on the hat on made for Lori Oles at www.vintageflair.typepad.com She is such a talent I wanted to make sure mine was up to par. I really got inspiration from a top hat that Sandra Everston did. So off I went. I purchased a top hat from our local party store. It was a felt hat and I was not sure I was going to get anything to stick. I cut old sheet music and adhered it to the hat with mod podge and glue and finished the edges with ribbon and a hot glue gun. On Friday May 2nd we will be having a Derby party here. I will have a link to all the blogs who participated in the Derby Hat Swap. Kari and Kijsa from www.kariandkijsa.blogspot.com (two fab gals who live in Kentucky) will judge the hats. They will pick a win place and show for the best hats, and those winners will get prizes from my new online shop www.honeybendvintage.com I will also be having a giveaway for anyone who leaves a comment on Friday May 2nd. I will announce the winner of the hats Saturday May 3rd and the comment winner will be announced Monday May 5th. It should be a lot of fun so come by Friday May 2nd.
I sent out two purchases from my online shop. I loved wrapping the items up, it reminds me of a day gone by.
your hat is just gorgeous!!
