Happy Derby Hat Day to all. I wish I was headed there but instead I am on my way to St. Louis! Be sure to leave a comment on this post so your name is put into the hat for a giveaway! I will be giving away some sweet treats away from my little online shop Honey Bend Vintage please stop by today it is our official opening! Kari and Kijsa will be judging the hats and will pick a Win Place and Show, those winners will get some sweet treats too. On to the swap. Listed below are the links for the swap participants. There are two ladies with out blogs and I will post a picture of their hats. Shawn @ European Antique Market liked the idea of the swap so much she had one at her shop in Louisville, check out her fun advertising for the event. She even had a guest Milliner.
Now you must have a Mint Julep if your at the Derby. Here is a recipe to try at home, yummy
The Early Times Mint Julep Recipe
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups water
- Sprigs of fresh mint
- Crushed ice
- Early Times Kentucky Whisky
- Silver Julep Cups
Make a simple syrup by boiling sugar and water together for five minutes. Cool and place in a covered container with six or eight sprigs of fresh mint, then refrigerate overnight. Make one julep at a time by filling a julep cup with crushed ice, adding one tablespoon mint syrup and two ounces of Early Times Kentucky Whisky. Stir rapidly with a spoon to frost the outside of the cup. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.
The best times are enjoyed responsibly.
Early Times Distillery Co., Kentucky Whisky. 40% Alc. By Volume. Louisville, KY ©2006.
So grab your drink and get started. I posted my hat earlier this week but here it is again. I made this hat for Lori at Vintage Flair, I hope she likes it.
